Cascada Marbella: the garden table we keep coming back to

Just up the hill from La Cañada, you swap the traffic for a river, a waterfall and a band playing under the trees. It’s the place we send friends when they ask for somewhere that feels special without trying too hard.

The garden at Cascada Marbella

Why we love it

Plenty of Marbella restaurants have a view. Very few have a sound. At Cascada it’s the river, then the crickets, then a guitar starting up across the garden, and by the second course you’ve forgotten the A-7 exists.

The cooking holds its own against the setting, which is rarer than it should be. The Lagarde brothers, of Top Chef France, cure their own charcuterie, take the grill seriously and treat vegetables like the main event. It’s polished without being stiff: you can bring the kids, the dog, or someone you want to impress.

Our tips for your visit

Best table

Outside, as close to the river as they’ll seat you. In the warm months ask for Le Patio, under the fig and lemon trees (no band out there, just the river).

What to order

Start with the house-cured charcuterie, then anything off the grill. Hungry and in no rush? Go for the tasting menu.

When to go

A warm evening, Thursday to Sunday, when there’s live music. Arrive before sunset to see the garden in daylight, and book ahead.

Good to know

  • In the hills above La Cañada, with free parking
  • Children and dogs welcome
  • Good choice for vegetarians and vegans
  • They also host weddings and private events

Menus, opening times and who’s playing

Cascada keeps all of that up to date on its own website, along with bookings and event enquiries. Hours change with the seasons, so check there before you go.
